Some
old dolls have a porcelain body and others have a body made of a paper mache/moulded
cardboard material. Over the years the metal hook and the elastic
that holds the arms and legs in place wears away at the surface of the
sockets and if this is not corrected at an early stage it can result in
extensive damage as shown by the leg sockets here.
Much effort and time was required here
to repair and reinforce the body and the sockets to restore full mobility
to the legs. After a repaint, the body was as good as new.
