CUTTING THE EYE SOCKETS ON SOFT VINYL DOLLS

We have see some advice to owners to cut the back of eye sockets to remove and replace eyeballs.  This should NOT be done because it ruins the eye socket.

We have seen dolls like this and all that can be done is to place the eye in position and cover the back with a clear sealant in the hope it will stick.  Even if it does stick, the tension of the stretchy rubber socket is supposed to hold the eyeball close against the face and hide the eyeball casing.

An example of cut eye sockets.
Without this tension the eye tends to drop back somewhat, the eyeball case can often be seen and the effect is inferior.  The best way to remove and replace the eyes is through the front of the face after softening the plastic in hot water.
